Building High Performing Teams

 A highly engaging one-day training program packed with a plethora of fun activities and games focusing on the key characteristics of high performing teams. Managing Conflict

 Conflicts can be hard. We get so emotional that sometimes we feel we cannot take it at all. Do you know anyone who is good at conflict management? Do you admire them? Do you envy them? Not so surprisingly most people want to avoid conflicts altogether. Many get so emotional that they feel they cannot even say a single word. Others may rely on a simple age-old technique of silence treatment, which does not really do them or others any good. 

So, what should we do when we are in a conflict? Should we just leave it and hope that it goes away? The chances are that it probably does not go away and will come back to haunt you. Conflicts have a tendency to escalate when untreated, they can make the environment toxic and unproductive and eventually the conflict may come to control you rather than you controlling it. 

Course objectives: 

By the end of this training course participants will be able to:

  1.  Identify what conflict is.
  2. Learn how to handle conflicts.
  3. Discover how to manage emotions
  4. Respond to escalating situations
  5. Learn how to negotiate

Building Relationships

This training course will assist participants in building positive working relationships with people. In business today we need to ensure that the people who work for us are motivated and willing to give 100 percent commitment. This will only happen if a good positive working relationship exists. This course is relevant to everyone who wants to ensure good working relationships exist in their workplace. To effectively build relationships participants will benefit from analyzing some of the difficult personalities they encounter and learn how to overcome the barriers that may exist. Participants will learn how assertiveness impacts relationships and discover why trust is a crucial element and a foundation to any meaningful relationship. 

 Course objectives: 

By the end of this training course participants will be able to: 

  1. Identify how barriers to building relationships can be overcome by recognizing attitude and behaviors in themselves and others.
  2. Explain the importance of trust in a relationship and identify methods of developing trust.
  3. Recognize the difference between assertive, aggressive, and passive behaviors and how these impact our relationships.

Critical Thinking

 Critical thinking is becoming one of the top skills employers look for in their workforce. However, we live in a digital age where our expectation is that we have all the answers we want at our fingertips twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Because of this Google mentality, many of us no longer need (or indeed have the patience) to step back and just think. This ability, to think critically, is a skill that many employees currently lack and as such, can often be the reason why many businesses fail. This training course has been designed to help your participants to start to hone their critical thinking skills. The course will explore the characteristics of great critical thinkers, it will give your participants simple tools which will enhance their thought process to ensure assumptions aren’t the only perspective they are working from. 

Course objectives: 

By the end of this training course participants will be able to:

  1.   Realize the importance of critical thinking and define what it means.
  2. Measure how they stand against characteristics of critical thinking and look at how they can develop these.
  3. Combat assumptions and biases that could be holding them back.
  4. Break down and clarify business briefs so they get it right, first time.
  5. Use Bloom’s Taxonomy to structure their thoughts, tasks, and projects for business success.

Course length: 4 hours 

Creative Problem Solving & Decision Making

 This highly interactive workshop introduces a variety of creative problem solving and decision-making tools and techniques. Participants will learn to analyze problems, generate creative solutions, and decide which solution most closely matches their needs. In addition to the numerous activities and exercises throughout the training where participants get to practice the different tools and techniques learned, they will also apply the learning and their problem-solving skills on an interesting case study that will take them back to the days of Ancient Egypt and building the great pyramids. 

Course objectives: 

By the end of this training course participants will be able to: 

  1.  Apply a four-step process to systematically solve problems and decide on appropriate solutions. 
  2. Use methods and tools (systematic process and fishbone diagramming) to discover the underlying cause of a problem.
  3. Use brainstorming, and several other creative thinking techniques to generate possible solutions to the problem. 
  4. Identify the best choice from various options.
  5. Use the following decision-making techniques: Pro/Con, Force Field Analysis, Decision Matrix, Feasibility/Capability Analysis, and Cost/Benefit Analysis.
  6. Create an Action Plan to implement the appropriate solution.

Course length: 6 hours

Problem Solving Techniques

Don’t have time to deliver a full day's training or wider program? This 1-hour training has been developed to get a message across but reduces the impact to working operations. Most problems we face are small, some are large and complex, but they all need to be solved in a satisfactory way. You need to be able to identify the various problem-solving techniques available and the guidelines surrounding these to be able to make full use of them. This one-hour problem solving techniques training session will look at how to solve problems using various techniques and will also look at surrounding guidelines. 

Course objectives: 

By the end of this training course participants will be able to:

  1. Distinguish what is a problem and what is a solution.
  2. Recognize the various problem-solving techniques available.
  3. State the various guidelines around these problem-solving techniques.
